Cross-training is a combination of several training systems. Many athletes use cross-training as a way to get ready for their usual sport. The goal is improving the overall performance of any athlete. Your body is challenged in several ways, getting you ready for unexpected events in the everyday life. Combining several exercises from different sports will work various parts of the body in the same session. In traditional gyms, usually you work on one or two certain muscle groups, but in cross-training we aim to eliminate this imbalance, and work many different parts of your body during one session.
Functional fitness is very similar to cross-training, and the only difference is that it is a regulated sport under the International Functional Fitness Federation (IF3).
This sport is fairly young, however, it has proven to be a very effective and very competitive sport, and that is the reason, many from around the world have taken a keen interest in the sport and its competitions. To learn more about the sport and events, visit the IF3 website.
